South African Krugerrands

The South African Krugerrand was first produced in 1967. Since then it has become the most widely owned gold bullion coin in the world.

Each Krugerrand contains exactly 1 ounce of pure gold, added to which is a small amount of copper to provide durability. Thus the coins are of 22 karat gold.

The obverse depicts Paul Kruger, the last President of the original South African Republic from 1883 to 1902, and the reverse shows the national animal of South Africa - the springbok.

They were the first gold bullion coins produced in exact 1-ounce size, and sold for simply the spot gold price and a slight mark-up to cover manufacture and distribution. The huge supply of Krugerrands on the market makes it the least expensive choice in tradable gold bullion.

American Eagles

The beauty and power of Liberty, captured in the graceful Striding Liberty design by Augustus Saint Gaudens for the 1907-1933 $20 U.S. Double Eagle gold coin is the basis for the American Gold Eagle coin.

American Eagles use the durable gold standard established for gold coins circulating over 350 years ago. Each of these gold coins is minted in 91.67% fine gold. This creates harder coins that resist scratching and marring which can diminish resale value.

These are the only gold coins whose quality and purity are guaranteed by the U.S. government. And by law, only gold mined in the U.S. is used in the minting of American Gold Eagles. It was introduced in 1986 and has four sizes, 1 oz., ½ oz., ¼ oz. and 1/10 oz.

* Due to EU trade sanctions there are currently duties imposed on American Eagles

Chinese Pandas

Since its introduction by the People’s Bank of China in 1982, the Gold Panda coin has established a place of prominence in the world of coin collecting and investing.

The obverse has been redesigned each year (except for 2002) reflecting a different view of the Giant Panda in his habitat. The beauty of each new design, its guaranteed purity, and its wide range of sizes from the rare one kilo to 1/20 ounce has added to its appeal. The reverse of the coin depicts Tien Tien, The Temple of Heaven, one of the oldest temples in Beijing and remains the same from year to year.

The Republic of China's .999 fine gold Panda series was one of the most successful bullion coins of the 1980's. Response to these beautiful panda images was very positive and soon the gold Pandas became popular collectibles. By changing the design every year, the Chinese were able to build a steady demand for these products regardless of gold price fluctuations.
